Re: Clothes you wear...

Our closest town has a bunch of organic cotton clothes, locally made, and their prices are STILL outrageous. I only buy from them during sale times, or I'll peruse the bargain basket.

absolutely Molly...

i meant that if you are looking at environmentally friendly clothes shopping, and 'organic' (ie inflated) prices are beyond you... the next best thing is to at least buy clothing that hasn't been shipped half way across the planet...

The quilt idea is great. I made quilts just that way for my kids when they were tiny. I think I'll try my hand at it again, I had a lot of fun making them the first time. (I used an old thermal blanket for the base, did a layer of batting, made strips of the quilt squares, and sewed the whole thing together, easy-peasy.)

thankfully...organic is not that expensive here...I mean I find the prices at par with normal fabric and therefore think it is good option to buy organic....the cloth is very comfortable and the colors are retained very well....

Cotton is locally produced in your part of the world isn't it Atula? Whereas it is all imported over here.. When you say organic though, do you just mean natural fibres, mass produced, or specifically grown cotton with no pesticides, ferilizers etc?

I mean specifically grown cotton with no pesticides stav...and another interesting development I just heard is that now researcher here have come up with organic cotton that comes in colors...I mean cotton bud is white in nature, but now they have a hybrid which too is grwon organically but has pink and blue cotton buds...isn't that great..that means even the synthetic colors later added to make cloth can be now no more needed.

Re: Clothes you wear...

I think the term organic is a big con trick, I don't pay attention to that at all. I try to buy ethically produced clothing and where possible locally produced, but that is not very easy. I am quite happy to use second hand clothing and I always recycle anything that we no longer need.

i can't imagine organically grown cotton that comes out pink Atula... how on earth did they manage that without some sort of genetic engineering?

THank you for the link Atula.. that is truly amazing.. It just shows you, nature can still outdo man, even when we insist on trying to tamper...
