Eco-friendly tips

Just came across this link:

http://www.ecologyfund.com/registry/eco ... _tips.html

It lists more than 10 tips to help the environment. An interesting tip is that we should keep cats indoors. Domestic cats kill over one billion small birds and animals every year (1 outdoor cat averages 40 kills per year). They upset natural predator/prey balances and eliminate ground nesting birds.
See, maybe domesticated cats is influenced by humans too much, so that they become part of this environmental mess :D

Re: Eco-friendly tips

you are speaking of cats, I just read that even cows are responsible for global warming with the amount of methane gas they pass into the atmosphere...! really seems like every thing and everyone is involved in the global warming mess now.

I have had cats that lived exclusively indoors when I lived in cities, but have had indoor/outdoor cats when I lived in less busy locales. Belling your cat, so they can't sneak up on birds or other wee beasties, is a sensible precaution that benefits our feathered friends.

Re: Eco-friendly tips

As a cat owner in the city, I don't allow my cats to run free outside for their own safety. I wouldn't want them to hunt anything outside either.

I grew up on a farm where there were barn cats, and it would have been much more difficult to control that population's routines. Even neutering would have had limited effects with "drifters" stopping by from time to time.

Cats are efficient and natural predators.. it is un natural to suppress those instincts and cruel to the cat.

Re: Eco-friendly tips

Glad to hear the cat folks speak up!
Every living thing is in the circle of life and each entity gives and takes as in their nature. Cats aren't living outside the environment. Environment means every thing.
