3,000 Low Temp Records Set This July!

UPDATE: It's not just the surface land temps -- Blog reader Tim points out "Water temps at Frying Pan Shoals (off Cape Fear) fell to 78 degrees a few days ago; NDBC historical data shows this occurs only 0.3% of the time in July!" Here's a look at the weekly departure from normal sea-surface temperatures:

What do we do now?

No, records are facts, not a position.

Do you think that the record temps can be altered? maybe someone is lying.

Shortfuses,

I would like to point out that I was not disputing the "records". I was providing the Accuview position on whether AGW is real or not. I successfully did that. Now I would also like to redirect you to your link and have you read the updated material. It clearly states that while there have been large deviations from the normal temps to the low side for the last few months there have been equal if not more deviations from the normal to the high side in the months preceeding the recent months. Records, as you state, are fact and these facts point to a trend that shows an over all warming pattern. :FLAG:

Not really

It's not like Urban wrote the position statement. He was just pointing out the view of a well respected weather service.

Your point is accurate and well taken too.. I can't remember a milder summer here on the US east coast. But at the same time there are areas in the mid west that have set record highs in July. So what does that mean?

I just report the facts. As far as what it means,it means it's weather,no one can predict it or make it. Maybe the weather service will make a report of that too and Urban will say "that's just their opinion" "This is accuweathers AGW position. " urban quote on the facts of record low temps.
