Re: Rules About Drying Clothes Outside

Brit humour certainly translates over the pond, Stav; at least with me! What I was meaning to convey is that there are people, unfortunately, who are actively trying to trash the President any which way they can, even to something as simple as hanging washing out to dry. I spoke to a woman the other day who swears the President is a Muslim only pretending to be a Xian. This is a nice lady who doesn't normally act the nutter. What I'm trying to say is that the crazy and evil element is making inroads in the less-informed in our country. They are spreading lies and carrying guns to anti-Obama rallies. It's important for our friends on the other side of the pond know about this. :TAZ:

basicallywith all the important stuff Obama has to sort out, do we really expect himto be spending time obsessing about washing lines?

Yes I do! It is easy to trivialise it, but it is not really about washing lines and it is not really an unimportant issue. it is about making it possible for people to take the gree option. I am not suggesting that they be compelled to dry their clothes outside (just one example) but it shouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility to prevent local laws/rules making it impossible for people to take the green option.

i'm not trying to trivialise it deltic.. i just think some of you are expecting too much from the man too quickly.. he is not god... he can't please everyone... he is trying to deal with issues about health care, as well as a war on two fronts... so considering the US overall record on green issues (pretty poor) this one issue is hardly the most important thing for him right now.. even if it is 'important'

Stav I agree with you on one thing, the US has a dismal record on green issues so far. He is not running the country all by himself, he has help! OK it is a different system of government to the one I am used to, but part of effective government involves dealing with a range of issues facing the country. I really dont think there is time todelay on green issues, because the future of our planet depends on the action taken now. Some big changes have to be made, but small changes multiplied up over the whole population could make a significant difference.
