There are many reasons people use hydro energy. Using hydro energy is cheaper than using other methods to convert energy to electricity. It is also reliable and can be immediately use to meet the demand of electricity. Yet, there is some downsides also. One of them is that it can sometimes change the natural flow of the water which possibly harms plants and animals in the water. It can also damage areas and wildlife, because in creating a hydro electric dam, areas must be flooded.
