shortfuses

The only thing green that I have going is a compost pile. I recycle weeds, leaves, grass clippings, vegetables, and other things that are in my yard.

I do not believe in recycling and going green. I went to Lowe's on Earth Day and bought chemicals to spray on my yard for a fungus on my St. Augustine grass, and mentioned it to the cashier and she must have been a greeneck because she frowned, however the boy that bagged my chemicals said that Lowes was a green company but mentioned about all the chemicals they sell, and that they do sell "green" stuff but no one buys it,and the variety is so small and bedsides no one uses that stuff anyway.

Last thought,my neighbors at least a couple of them believe in going green, they talk about pollution, global warming, get in a big frizzy over some of the weather, yet they have 3 cars, one sitting there until there daughter turns 16 (15 now).want to add another 600 ft to the house, run the thermostat at 72,use a riding mower, gas edger, have a suv,all this talk, want me to change but sit on there ass and do nothing. I find this lifestyle pretty common among those who tout the "green lifestyle".

Would much rather see the greeneck preachers like Al Gore, Barrack Hussien Obama,Holloywood shut there mouth and live like they believe it. That's all.

Re: shortfuses

dear me.... so much anger in just one post shortfuses..

i try not to waste things and personally live as green as is possible in a city centre, but i don't try converting people.. it is a personal choice. If you don't want to do it, then don't... why stress out and blow a fuse on the internet over it? Chill :)

With the cap and trade policy that the greennecks want to pass,it will cost the average family in TAXES over 4000.00 dollars by 2012. That is why you and everyone else should be blowing a fuse. There are other mandates that will cost you out the wazoo that you don't know about also. This green thing is Y2K all over. Suckers fell for that one to.

Re: shortfuses

interesting thoughts, and i am sure there are probably things that there should be more information and concern about. I am not in the US so I don't think the issues are quite the same, but I do understand your point.

Re: shortfuses

This is an interesting thread. Aside from the specific grievances mentioned above, someone can do something as small as extend the life of a light bulb by not having it on when it's not necessary.

So there are complex political points to be made, as well as very simple practical ones.

Welcome Shortfuses. This is indeed a fresh thread.
I have a feeling you may greener than you think. I say that because of your awareness alone. You should tell your neighbors you just joined this forum.. They'll turn green with envy! :HAHA:

Green is a color, Environmentalism is a way of life. Most of our society today is on the color band wagon and as such talks a good game. True change in our policies and our way of life will take place on a personal level. I hope shortfuses, that you will keep an open mind and partake in the knowledge that some of the people on this site will impart. For that matter I hope you will share some of your thoughts as well.

Re: shortfuses

While there are definitely people who have tried to buy into the "green fad," there are people who really 'do' live the lifestyle and it's not because it's popular or what someone else tells them they should do.

Re: shortfuses

As you say kitten, while there will always be people who jump on the green band wagon because it's trendy.. Like all the celebrities who are currently driving around in hybrid cars.. There are those that just quietly do what they can to make a minimum impact on the world around them..They are the true green living ones..

Re: shortfuses

I feel welcome here. Thank you all for your constructive, directional and welcoming words. Alsa a forum where,I can talk to people and tell them who I am without being thrown under the bus. I do,do my part to conserve, however there are areas in my life that I believe that the earth is renewable, and that we should use those products to the fullest. I believe that the free market should run it's course in the arena of "going green",if green survives so be it,if not, then the market and the people have decided that it is not in the best interest of man to alter his lifestyle just to suite another in the minority who want to impose a lifestyle onto others and forcing the market to sell earth friendly products, like hybrid cars, solar energy, wind turbines those things are ugly any way. We could all just go by the wayside like California, and go off the cliff with stupid laws sending themselves into a meltdown of the economy.

One last morsel. I work for the largest small parcel company in the world. We have gone green. Our company could care less about the green movement, although we display green on our webpage and on some of our boxes. We run gasoline powered engines, motors leak oil, diesels motors, but they emit sulpher which is ok,we print out emails, have more paperwork than you can imagine, keep our offices at a freezing temp. probably around 68*-70* in the summertime and keep the doors open cause it's to cold in there. I have not seen anything green about this brown company, all we did was say we are green. But hey, they can do what they want cause I get a paycheck from them. Let'm live like they want to.is fine with me.
