The buses that my daughter's school set up are yellow too. It is a very good idea, but unfortunately the cost per term is extortionate. We lived just over a mile from the school so my girls and their friends walked to and from school. I can understand why some parents with more than one child who lived a long way from the school still drove their children to and from school because it would have been much cheaper than the bus.

The buses should be run by the governemnt via the education services Deltic.

In London at least, although there are no special buses any more, kids under 15 travel free on the normal buses and tat has helped quite a bit.

No they are not government funded. Our County Council only funds the legal minimum so only children having to travel more than 3 miles to their nearest school get free transport (there are a few exceptions but that more or less sums it up). As this is a town based senior school no one qualifies for free transport because no one lives more than 3 miles from their nearest school. There are nearer schools but the parents have chosen this one because it is single sex and has high success rates. Choice has a high price tag!
