Flooding in Cumbria
We are currently experiencing uoprecedented rainfall in Cumbria, North West England.. 16 inches of rainfall have fallen in 36 hours. Flood defences have proved to be wildly inadequate.
A bridge across a river came crashing down, killing a policeman who was there preventing people from trying to cross... He died protecting the public, doing his job. He leaves behind his wife and four small children.
This kind of rainfall is not normal, 16 inches is nearly 2 months worth for the area at this time of the year. It has devastated hundreds of acres of land, and thousands of homes just before christmas, and 11 people have died. Those who still insist that climate change is not happening need to come have a look.
