Green toilet

Manufactured by Caroma, this green toilet features a faucet located on top of the tank. After each flush, water pours out the faucet and into a recessed drain until the tank is refilled. You can wash your hands with the puring water, keeping you from wasting more water in toilet. That's a pretty simple yet great idea. Just we never think about it before.

Re: Green toilet

That is a pretty neat idea. I'm just sorry I didn't think of it first. I have to wonder though how many people would actually use it.

Re: Green toilet

That's genius! Simple but made a different. If it were created and applied earlier, how much water would we have saved? Toilets are considered consuming most water in our daily life. But nothing is too late.

Re: Green toilet

Wow, I love this idea. I never would've thought of it myself, but I definitely think I waste the most water just by washing my hands or rinsing something out in the sink, etc.

Re: Green toilet

nice idea.....this should be promoted as a large amount of water could be saved simply by installing such kind of toilets instead of the conventional ones...

Re: Green toilet

A really great idea that i hope catches on...
While we're talking about toilets, millions of gallons of water are wasted with old flaps that let it leak out. It's not really difficult to fix this (if my hubby and I can do it, anyone can  !). There are complete kits ( quite cheap, as well) at your local hardware store, and it takes little time to replace the inner workings of your toilet.

Re: Green toilet

I like it. I wish I have one in my toilet.
And, yeah you are right, heretoday. Sometime we are just too lazy to fix those leaking flaps or faucets or get them fixed, not aware of how much water we can save if we don't delay doing the simple thing.

Re: Green toilet

That's a great idea, and I'm pretty sure I have heard of it before, maybe a year ago.

It sounds like it would also save space. I wonder if the water from the sink could be easily retained if it wasn't directly over the tank?

Re: Green toilet

It looks very difficult to use. I don't want to reach over the toilet to wash my hands and I don't want to heat water for the cistern or wash in cold water. I recycle my bath shower and sink water anyway and I have a device in the cistern to reduce water usage when flushing the toilet. I wouldn't want a gadget like this, I think it is just a gimmick.

Re: Green toilet

While I'm not all for cleaning my hands in the purified version of my toilet water, I can DEFINITELY see how it would be wonderful for the environment. Heck, if i had the money for it, I would probably get one. I mean, it can't be that bad -- water purification has improved so much throughout the years, so I wouldn't be surprised if there were barely any impurities left.
People have often told me that I have an unhealthy relationship with my thermostat, but they're WRONG. XP
