Sunslates Photovoltaic Roofing

These are a must for your next roofing project. Sunslates solar electric roofing tiles reduce electricity needs by using built in solar panel roofing tiles. The glass power panels are glued to the exposed surface of the roofing tile. These are great power generators and they look awesome on the roof too. Because it's a roofing product it needs to be installed by on-site electrical and a certified roofing subcontractor.

Re: Sunslates Photovoltaic Roofing

Sounds interesting! In the product information, they state that the new and improved SUNSLATES feature 159 mm cells delivering 20+ Watt per module. I have no idea about that  , but they state further that it will reduces the number of connections per kW, saving installation time and money.
Well, the (only?) drawback of solar energy is the cost to generate it. I think researches on that matter are being done; hope in the future we can get the more affordable solar cells.

When I last researched things photovoltaic a few years ago, this was the technology that the industry was heading for. I hope that things keep progressing at such a rate. I'd love to hear what people who have used it have to say?

Re: Sunslates Photovoltaic Roofing

Verdi,

I am in Minnesota, and have a couple of questions.

1 I am a General Contractor, Are you associated with the company. I have toyed with the idea of installing a system on my roof to see. How does the cost compare, and what is the projected payback?

2. I am 500+ miles from the nearest dealer. What is involved with becoming a dealer?

Thanks

I am not associated with the company. I stumbled upon the company while I was looking at efficiency ratings for various solar panel assemblies. No idea what the projected payback would be.

I would use the link above to contact the company and find out about becoming a dealer. If they work nearly as good as they look I think there will be a high demand for contractors to install them for years to come.

If you become a certified contractor for the Sunslaes please keep us updated about the product. You might also want to post in the Green Builders section of this forum.

Good luck...

Re: Sunslates Photovoltaic Roofing

That sounds like a great idea. Can you imagine how much energy could be produced if every roof surface had these?

I realize that's a little too ambitious, but every bit helps.
