$2.4 Billion to Fund Next Generation Electric Vehicles

President Obama announced the availability of $2.4 billion in funding to put American ingenuity and America's manufacturers to work producing next generation Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles and the advanced battery components that will make these vehicles run. The initiative will create tens of thousands of U.S. jobs and help us end our addiction to foreign oil.
By contributing to the reduction of petroleum use and greenhouse gas emissions, these projects will advance the United States' economic recovery, national energy security, and environmental sustainability.

I think their intentions are good but.. Why does this seem like just another 'bail out' for the auto makers disguised by an agenda? I just hope the big auto makers don't burn through the money without accomplishing the objective.

That's good news. Well, may the oil companies won't be very happy to hear the news, but it is it is important that such environmentally friendly vehicles should be developed more. The research on this matter should be encouraged and supported. We know that no matter how much the fosil oil is now, it has limited availability. Not being a renewable energy source, It will be finished eventually, and the oil companies will have to look for another business. I don't think they will be happy if the fosil oil run out quickly.

If the cap and trade bill goes thru you won't be able to afford gas or the electric to power your clown car, oopps I meant your electric car. It's a no win, check out the bill,it's called Waxman/Markey,passed by congress on it's way to the Senate for approval, we can't afford it,literally. It will greatly hurt the elderly and the low income people, the one's who wanted the most change, there is no hope for them if it passes, remember, no one will see a tax increase, horse pucky.
