Freecycle.org

This is a great website to list items you might want to "recycle" to other people instead of throwing them away. You can also post "want" ads for things you might need. Definitely check it out. There are local groups all over the country.
Accept the things you cannot change but change the things you can.

Re: Freecycle.org

I LOVE Freecycle!!

I see all kinds of crazy things posted on there. I've even seen a GPS device someone was giving alway on there. You better keep a close eye on it though because you usually need to respond quick if you want something.

Re: Freecycle.org

We love Freecycle! Right now we have a swag lamp waiting for us to pick up. I spent hours trying to get information on the web, and finally gave up. We put a request on Freecycle, and we had an answer in two days.
I would like to share the knowledge i gleaned online: you can buy a swag lamp with any college, professional, and whatever football team that you could name. Anything else, forget it.

Re: Freecycle.org

I think I've heard of that a year or so ago. I'd like for it to become more popular and widespread.

I guess pointing it out in forums like this is a good strategy for that. ;)

On a smaller scale, some things get recycled in our condo building. People leave reusable items in the dry garbage room and often they are removed and kept by somebody else.

Re: Freecycle.org

Freecycle is getting better in St. Louis but still not good enough for me to be on there. I don't like the way the forum is set up. If it were like Craigslist.org I would be more inclined to use it more often. I have actually started looking in the wanted section of Craigslist to get rid of things that I don't need. so...

When we lived in a university town, we had major migrations of students in the fall and summer. There would be thousands of useful things lining the curbs with a big "free" sign over all of it. It was so much fun to see what you could get.
