The end rolls don't actually have print on them so they make good paper for children's artwork and crafts. I have a three year old that loves to paint and I've had the same roll for over a year. I just tear a piece off the end roll and clip it to his easel and he's all set. We'll also paint and decorate large pieces of paper to use for creative wrapping paper.
As for your old printed newspapers, you could find out whether your town or city offers a curbside newspaper recycling program. If not, there are many ways you can re-use it.. For example, newspaper makes a good mulch for a garden. Simply lay out the sections, overlapping them in a heavy mat around plants and then just cover the paper with a compost mixture. This is a great way to keep the weeds out and keep moisture in for your plants.
Maybe there should be a new thread just about how to recycle newspapers.
