Online Shopping for Christmas Gifts.

Like many people around the world, I plan on doing my Christmas shopping online this year. But instead of buying new gifts from the large online stores I will be purchasing all used items utilizing eBay, Craigslist, and Amazon's marketplace for pre-owned goods and the sustainability inherent with their business model. Not only will I be reusing these items, but I'll also be getting some great deals on gifts that would would be too expensive to purchase new.

That's a good idea as far as it goes... the only problem over here would be our current problems with endless postal strikes which have made the post, even on non strike days, erratic...

i do quite a bit of my shopping online generally, but it is also nice to go out tothe shops during the holiday period, and soak up a little atmosphere, and look at all the pretty baubles :)

I agree with stav, I love to go to the shops to soak in the holiday atmos (whether I buy anything or not). Buying used stuff online is a good idea, but buying for small grandkids can often preclude that option.

Brass Monkey, that is very good advice. There are many things that you can buy 'used' that are in near perfect condition and make ideal gifts. I buy used CDs, DVDs, computer games, some toys, jigsaws, paintings, jewelry and pottery from various online retailers and I have been very pleased with the quality of the items.
