When will the solar panel's cost drop?

I think we cannot expect that for the near future. Solar panel is a mature technology. They haven't changed much in recent years. That is different with technology of computers and other related products which is always developing rapidly, so that we can expect the cheaper price as long as we are willing to wait for some time.

So, instead of waiting for the cost decreasing, we had better install them and start saving now.

To install or not to install the solar panel now. That's the question. That's the dilemma. But I think it makes sense that solar panel is a mature technology and the price is projected not so much change in the future, based on the price in recent years. What about waiting for one or two months and then installing it?

Four years ago I bought a 70 watt panel for the same price I paid for a 180 watt panel recently. In that sense, couldn't you say the price has dropped?

Surely then, as a mature technology (what does that really mean???) It should be getting cheaper all the time, as development costs are all dealt with, and more and more manufacturers are starting to produce them, therefore thee is more competition for customers and so prices are kept down..

I really expected solar panel prices to come down by now, but I know as soon as I actually get around to putting them in, the prices 'will' drop, sigh.

The prices might not have dropped too much but the efficiency has increased a lot in recent years. I wouldn't expect the prices to drop dramatically anytime soon either.

Actually if you really want to bring down the cost...you can build a solar panel yourself at home....as a DIY...it really is not very difficult and technical....just someone who knows about the stuff can maybe lend a hand....but is quite possible

DIY...it's a good idea. Do you think building your own solar panel will cut the cost significantly? I always think what make it expensive is the material, the panel itself, not the assembling.
