Residential wind turbines

I am looking for information about wind turbines for my home. Does anyone use one or know someone that does? I want to hear from someone that uses one so I can get an idea about what size I would need and how much power they generate. I'd also like to know if they feel it was worth the initial investment. How much wind do you need to keep it working? I live near the shore and there is always an ocean breeze but it's not always a strong wind. Thank You

Re: Residential wind turbines

In general, to consider installing a wind turbine, you should have at least 10 mph average wind speed and be paying at least 10 cents/kWh for electricity. I never try a wind turbine. But you can find some useful information you need from this link :

Re: Residential wind turbines

Thanks st hart, There is a lot of useful information on that website. I'm sure I average better than 10mph but it will calm down from time to time. Will it switch from wind power back to conventional power if the turbine slows down too much? Would my power company purchase my surplus? I was just hoping to gain some insight from someone who had a wind turbine.
